Predictive models of diabetes remission and their potential to impact patient selection for bariatric surgery


Dr. Priya Manjoo, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Manjoo completed her training in Internal Medicine at McMaster University.  She did her Endocrinology fellowship At McGill University in 2007 and then stayed on at McGill to do a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology.  She has been and continues to be involved in obesity research.  After completing her Masters (2009), she moved to Victoria, BC to join the Vancouver Island Health Authority.  She works in Victoria as an Internist and Endocrinologist and is on the board of directors at the Victoria Lipid Clinic.  She is on faculty at the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.  She completed the American Boards of Obesity Medicine and now holds full certification in Obesity Medicine.  She has a strong interest in the medical support of the bariatric surgery patient.  She has spoken at professional symposia on diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity and has also volunteered her time to speak at forums in the community aimed at promoting education around concepts of diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity management.
